『ハーメルンの笛吹き男』を示唆するフレーズ。昔ドイツのハーメルンでネズミが大繁殖し人々を悩ませいていた折、ド派手な衣装を着た男がやってきて報酬を得る代わりに笛を吹いてネズミをおびき寄せ、そのまま川へ行進しすべてのネズミを溺れさせて退治した。ただし、約束通り報酬は支払われず、「代わりにお前たちの大切なものをいただこう」というと今度は笛を吹いて町中の子供たちを集め、山の洞穴へと行進。洞穴は落石で塞がれ、笛吹き男と子供たちは二度と町へもどってこなかったとさ、というお話。
