今年、宗教２世の女性が旧統一教会の被害者救済を訴える記者会見を行っている最中に信徒である実の親から抗議のメッセージを受け取り、涙する様子がニュースになりましたね。メッセージから感じられる毒親ぶりと彼らをそうたらしめた教団の恐ろしさにぞっとしたし、彼女の悔しさと悲しさの入り混じった涙に心が痛みました。自分には関係ないと思ってたけど、被害者救済法案が通って本当よかったよ。

冒頭のスピーチは1978年に起きたジョーンズタウン集団自殺で人民寺院教祖ジム・ジョーンズが語ったもの。通称"Death Tape"と呼ばれる。ジョーンズタウンはジム・ジョーンズが統治するカルト・コミューン。この集団自殺で900人以上が命を落とした。
